St Paternus Church remains closed

16th June 2020

The Government recently advised that from 13th June 2020 churches and other places of worship could reopen for private prayer.

However prior to opening, churches are  required to follow strict  procedures to minimise the risk of spreading the virus (see the link below) with particular emphasis on ensuring protection for those who are shielding and/or over 70.

In view of the above, the PCC reluctantly concluded that it would not be possible to open South Petherwin church again at this time.

The PCC reasoned that the age and structure of the church, combined with the small number of parishioners, would make many of these guidelines difficult to implement and therefore the potential for  further spread of the COVID-19 virus could not be ruled out. The situation will be reviewed at regular intervals, but in the meantime if you have any queries please contact the church wardens
