Harry was born in 1890 at what was known as School Hill, South Petherwin (what is now the main road leading up to the Post Office) to John and Ellen Walters. On leaving school he worked as a Farm Labourer.
On the outbreak of  World War One he joined the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry as a Private 15664 but transferred to the Princess Victoria’s (Royal Irish Fusiliers) as a Private 15769 in the 6th Battalion.
He died of disease (Exposure?) at Salonika, Greece on the 4 Dec 1915 at the age of 25. He is buried at the Salonoka Lembeth Road Military Cemetery
