The Parish Council and residents of the parish are deeply saddened to hear the announcement of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. We reflect on the joy and happiness the parish shared during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, with all ages wanting to say thank you to Her Majesty for her enduring love and service to her people both in Great Britain and across the Commonwealth. We remember her fitting words to the nation: ” I cannot lead you into battle. I do not give you laws or administer justice, but I can do something else, I can give my heart and my devotion”. Her Majesty’s life has been a beacon of hope, faith, and devotion to her people. As a Parish Council, we wish to extend our condolences and prayers to the royal family at this time of grief and mourning.
Book Of Condolence: For those wishing to place flowers or sign the Book Of Condolence, St Paternus Church will be open, and a service of thanksgiving is being planned.
The Parish Council Chairman is requested to read the official Proclamation announcing the new King at St Paternus Church porch on Sunday 11th September at 6 pm. The flag will then be raised to the full and returned to half-mast.
