Citizens Advice Bureau.

North Cornwall CAB became part of CAB Cornwall last year but still runs its weekly outreach every Tuesday morning in Launceston.  Unfortunately we can only see people by appointment.  To make one call our appointments line on 01208 264691 Mon - Fri, 9am to noon.

Advice is only half of our dual aim "to provide free, independent and confidential advice, and by influencing policymakers."  The second part is our social policy or campaigning work.  An example is the work we did last year influencing Keltic Oils to change their billing system which was confusing and concerning their budget account customers.  We recently published a study of the problems experienced by people living in rural Cornwall accessing services.  "Remote Access" was well received by among others the Commission for Rural Communities and HRH The Duke of Cornwall and can be seen on our website or there is a copy held at the Post Office.  Our next report due soon will be on transport to hospital and parking issues.  It will be available similarly.

Our service is mainly staffed by volunteers and we need people in the Launceston area to train as advisers.  No experience is needed as full training is given.  It is a very satisfying and valuable role and if you are interested in finding out more please either call 0845 6436175 (Mon - Fri, 9am - 3pm) or visit our website at www.CABCornwall.org.uk .
